Priority Member Interview — Helen McHugh
We had the pleasure to chat with Helen McHugh — one of Searstone’s Priority Members — to get a closer look at what motivated her to call Searstone home.
What led you to Searstone Retirement Community?
I’ve been living in the Searstone/Preston area for over 30 years. I have several friends who are currently Searstone residents and are so happy with their decision to move there. I know that Searstone is the place for me, and right now is the perfect time to become a depositor to secure a place for myself there.
What excites you the most about this next chapter of your life?
I’m most excited about the thought of being free of responsibilities and spending my days enjoying my free time. I’m looking forward to participating in the many activities that Searstone offers and making new connections through those activities. I’ve moved a total of 13 times in my life, so I’m certainly familiar with being new to a place. I’m excited about this next phase — where I’ll have the opportunity to meet new people.
What advice would you give to someone who’s considering a move to a retirement community?
Choosing a retirement home is just like buying any home. First, find what meets your needs and overall gives you a good feeling — and try not to wait too long and risk missing your window of opportunity. This area is rapidly growing, and hundreds of people are arriving weekly! We were a well-kept secret, but we’ve been discovered. The staff at Searstone has been so accommodating and helpful and works diligently to answer your questions. I look forward to becoming a resident and hope to meet you at Searstone. Once here, you’ll see that I’m the lady who loves decorating for the holidays. Just wait until you meet my skeleton that sings Another One Bites the Dust!
